PHANTOM SHARE / PRACTICAL GUIDES
Transfer files between Android and PC
To transfer files between an Android phone and a PC, open Phantom Share on both devices, connect them with an invitation, and select the files on the sending device. Save the received files before closing the browser. You do not need a Phantom Share account or a cloud-storage folder.
What you need
- A computer with a current browser that supports WebRTC and file downloads. Desktop Chrome has been exercised in our tests.
- An Android phone using the Phantom Share app or a compatible browser.
- For the normal Create/Join flow, internet access for initial discovery. Allow local-network access if your browser asks when connecting over your LAN.
A Windows, Linux or Mac computer does not need a separate desktop application for the browser flow. Network and browser policies can still prevent a connection; this is not a guarantee for every device.
Connect your phone and computer
- Open Phantom Share on the computer and on your phone, or open the Android app.
- On either device, choose Connect → Create.
- On the other, choose Connect → Join. Scan the QR code or enter the six-character code or invitation link.
- Wait until the other device is shown as ready before selecting files.
Each invitation admits one device and lasts four minutes. For a third device, create a fresh invitation rather than reusing the first one.
Send files from Android to PC
- On your phone, tap Select files and choose the photos, videos or documents you want to send.
- Keep the phone app or browser and the receiving computer page open during the transfer.
- On the computer, wait for the received file to become available, then choose Save. Check your browser’s downloads to confirm it was saved.
Send files from PC to Android
- On the computer, drop files into the file area or click to select them.
- Keep both devices connected until the transfer finishes.
- The Android app saves received files to Downloads. If saving fails, use its Retry control. In an Android browser, use the received file’s Save control instead.
Choose who receives the files
Files normally go to all connected devices. Use a device’s recipient setting to select a direct recipient or exclude a device before sending. If you only intend to send to your phone, check the recipient list first.
If the devices do not connect
Check local-network permission, keep both pages visible, and try a fresh invitation. After changing networks, leave and connect again. Some guest Wi-Fi networks isolate devices from each other. Firewall and network restrictions can also block peer connections.
For a router without internet, follow the separate offline Wi-Fi sharing guide: that flow uses an Android host and a four-digit PIN, not the six-character online invitation.
